How are the products constructed?show

Our products are constructed to industry-leading standards to ensure strength, rigidity, durability and beauty. Many of our wrought iron gates are handmade in the UK using various techniques, so you can be sure you will only receive products of the highest quality that have passed the manufacturer's quality inspections. You can view the specification of steel used in the construction of each design by navigating through the products in the online shop and looking at the specification.

What finishes are available?show

On each product page, we detail the finish that is applied.

  • For all products described as "primed black with an undercoat", you must paint the exposed steel surfaces before installation to ensure adequate protection against rust and corrosion.
  • Zinc-plated (electro-galvanised)and powder-coated items require no additional painting before installation.

If you want to upgrade from primed to a powder-coated finish, contact us using the enquiry form, and we will advise you of the additional costs.

Please be aware that if you require a made-to-measure product, these items will always be supplied in black primer unless you request a different finish.

What do the sizes refer to?show

With the exception of our aluminium gates, all the width measurements shown in our online store refer to the gap size into which the gate, fence or railings will fit (including the space needed for the hinges, latch or fixing). Under no circumstances do these measurements refer to the physical width of the item. For more information, read the measuring guide or contact us to discuss further.

How to Measure

What do the heights refer to?show

Depending on your design, we may list the height in 2 different ways. Pay careful attention to this if you have any height restrictions such as copings on pillars, overhangs on walls and soffits of garages.

Physical Height: This measurement refers to the product's total height before installation and does not include any ground clearance allowance. We usually recommend allowing a minimum of 50mm; however, this may need to increase if your ground is uneven, so make sure you factor this in when ordering.

Height (once installed): This refers to the fitted height of the product. It is measured from ground level to the top of the horizontal framework (included in this dimension is an allowance of 50mm of ground clearance). This measurement does not include decorative features such as scrollwork or finials mounted above this point.
